The Fly Ash Comprehensive Utilization Engineering Technology R&D Center was established in July 2018. The key research topics and core goals are: through the research and industrialization of the comprehensive utilization technology of fly ash, the solid waste emissions from coal-fired power generation Coal ash is used as a resource to produce high value-added cast aluminum-silicon alloys and environmentally friendly by-products.


The center currently has 23 full-time scientific researchers and 5 senior technical consultants. 11 people have a master's degree or above, and 6 have a senior technical title or above. The center consists of a standardized R&D laboratory, a testing and analysis room, a molten salt electrolysis amplification laboratory, and a fly ash removal amplification laboratory, with a total area of about 2,000 square meters. The inspection and analysis room is equipped with world-class inspection equipment, mainly including Panacrean X-ray powder diffractometer (Empyrean3 XRD), Thermo Fisher inductively coupled plasma emission instrument (ICP7200), Thermo Fisher X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (XRF4200) ), Thermo Scientific Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (ice3000), Malvern Laser Particle Sizer (Mastersizer3000), etc., which can better meet the needs of fly ash technology research and development and testing.



The center cooperated with Northeastern University to establish the "Fly Ash Comprehensive Utilization Molten Salt Electrolysis Engineering Technology Joint R&D Laboratory", with East China University of Science and Technology to establish the "Fly Ash Comprehensive Utilization Engineering Technology Joint R&D Laboratory", and Shanghai Jiao Tong University to establish " High-end aluminum alloy material engineering technology joint research and development laboratory", jointly carry out fly ash extraction of aluminum silicon oxide, molten salt electrolysis aluminum silicon alloy, high-performance aluminum alloy preparation, etc.


R&D results


High-alumina fly ash is one of the main solid wastes generated during the development and utilization of coal resources, and China handles billions of tons each year. High-aluminum fly ash is rich in many valuable elements such as aluminum, silicon, lithium, and gallium, and collaborative extraction is an important direction for high-value utilization. However, the existing technology has harsh reaction conditions and difficult multi-element collaborative extraction, resulting in comprehensive high-aluminum fly ash. The utilization rate is low, the benefits are not significant, and it is difficult to promote and apply on a large scale. How to turn waste into treasure has become a worldwide problem.


The current successful technical routes in the laboratory include the pre-desiliconization-soda lime sintering method, the hydrochloric acid method and the limestone sintering method, but the shortcomings are also obvious: the production process is too long, the production cost increases, the energy consumption increases, and the unit investment cost is too high.


In recent years, the company has continued to strengthen technological research, innovated process routes, and made major breakthroughs in extracting aluminum-based oxides from fly ash and smelting aluminum-silicon alloys. Through basic experiments and scale-up experiments, the R&D team successfully prepared aluminum-silicon alloys using fly ash, and various quality indicators have reached the international leading level. At the same time, some hypereutectic aluminum-silicon alloys with silicon content higher than 12% have been prepared. This alloy is used in automobile engines, electronics, aviation, military and other fields, and has higher economic value than eutectic aluminum-silicon alloys. This research and development project It has been included in the major special project of "Science and Technology to Promote Mongolia" in the autonomous region.



Compared with the traditional technical route, the new technology realizes the simultaneous utilization of aluminum and silicon resources, greatly improves the utilization efficiency, and has a shorter process and lower cost; the use of fly ash for aluminum-based alloys has a large market demand and can create higher Value: Almost all the material components in fly ash are made into high value-added main products and high value-added by-products, basically achieving zero emissions, net utilization, and outstanding environmental protection advantages.


After the project is industrialized, it can not only effectively solve the problem of a large number of coal-fired power plants fly ash solid waste emissions, but also solve the problem of raw material supply required for the development of the domestic aluminum industry at low cost, and more importantly, it can make up for domestic bauxite mines. Insufficient resources, reduce dependence on foreign bauxite, while avoiding the risk of supply interruption in the import of bauxite, and improving the strategic safety of the development of my country's aluminum industry.

High-end aluminum alloy materials and aluminum deep processing

The company builds the "Mengtai Technology R&D Building" in the group headquarters, prepares to build the "Mengtai Special Aluminum Alloy Engineering Technology R&D Pilot Plant", and prepares to build the "Mengtai European High-end Aluminum Product R&D Center" in Germany to build a high-standard laboratory in the autonomous region. "Building nests and attracting phoenix" provides first-class scientific research conditions for the introduction of high-end scientific research talents at home and abroad.


The Mengtai Technology R&D Building has a total construction area of 52,000 square meters. It will build a R&D laboratory with the ability to support foreign cooperation and independent research and development to carry out amplification experiments, a pilot base with multiple pilot production lines, and a Try the testing and analysis rooms for various testing needs, etc., to provide first-class scientific research conditions for the company's technological innovation and the introduction of high-end scientific research talents at home and abroad.



The Montai Group is preparing to build the "Mengtai European High-end Aluminum Product R&D Center" in Germany. Relying on the human resources and technological platform advantages of Montai APT, it will research and develop high-end aluminum alloy materials, blanks and deep-processed products.



Research project


The company cooperated with Shanghai Jiaotong University to establish the "Kunshan Crystal Micro-Aluminum Alloy New Material Research Institute" and the "Aviation Large Flat Ingot Liquid 3D Printing Research and Development Base". At present, it has completed the trial production of 500 kg liquid 3D printing equipment and strives to complete the 10 ton level as soon as possible. Printing equipment to manufacture large-size aluminum alloy aviation large ingot materials that currently rely on imports.


Large-load drone and smart express cabinet project

The company and Beijing Information Science and Technology University formed a research and development team to jointly develop a drone intelligent rapid delivery system project to solve the last-mile delivery problem of express delivery. The project includes independent research and development of drones, independent research and development of intelligent express cabinets, independent development of intelligent logistics systems, etc. The combination of drones and smart express cabinets is the first in the country.
